Swiss Cabinet for GMO-free agriculture --

  

Results In a public referendum held in 2005, the people of  Switzerland had approved a five-year blanket ban on use of GMOs in agriculture. Now the government has come out in favour of extending this ban until 2013. The Swiss Federal Environment Office argues that the current moratorium has had no adverse impact on farming or research in Switzerland, and Swiss agriculture would only benefit from its GMO-free status. Read more...

 

Farmers’ Group in Australia rejects ABARE’s GM crops report

 

The Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics, in its latest report, strongly supports GM crops because they will bring huge profits. However farmers’ groups have disputed the claims saying that the numbers are based on assumptions and do not include rising input costs. Beside that, Australia's GM-free conventional canola crop can earn premiums in Europe and Asia. Read more...
