RALLY FOR ENACTMENT OF THE FOOD ACT

Gene Campaign was part of a rally to protest against the delay in enacting the Right to Food Act. Civil society groups from across India, met at Jantar Mantar on 26th November, 2009 and marched to Parliament Street, demanding an early legislation on Right to Food. The rally was organised by the Right to Food Campaign. Gene Campaign believes that the right to food should include entitlements and grants from government. It also believes that such a food right must include assured access to natural resources like land, water and biodiversity to enable self reliant food production. Food security and food sovereignty go hand in hand.
