Security.
India International Center and Gene Campaign are jointly
organizing a
program called
The Road to India’s Food Security
under the rubric Civilizations Survive on
Agriculture. This will consist of a series of events at the
India International Center, Delhi, highlighting what India
needs to do to achieve Food and Livelihood Security.
It will also showcase various efforts being made in this
direction. The program series will consist of one event every
month. The first in the Food Security series was a lecture by
eminent agriculturist and Rajya Sabha MP, Dr MS Swaminathan.
Dr Swaminathan spoke on
Shining India- Suffering India: Disparity in India’s
Growth,
demonstrating the neglect of rural India and its impacts on
food availability. He also outlined the possible pathways to
improve agriculture productivity in order to bridge the gap
between the two Indias.
