 Policy – GEAC Clears Research Trials for Bt Cotton

The Genetic Engineering Approval Committee (GEAC) has cleared multilocation research trials for several varieties of Bt cotton in its meeting on June 22, 2007. Permission was granted for conduct of multi-location field trials in Bt cotton expressing approved genes/ events. These include trials of BG I cotton hybrids, BG II cotton hybrid, cry1Ac gene and three intrahirsutum hybrids.
